North Western Railway: The Lifeline of Indian Railway

The Indian railway has vast network and therefore to operate it effectively and smoothly it has been divided into different zones and divisions. Initially there were only a few zones but as the network grew and the traffic of railway increased there are a number of changes brought to the system of railway which have been much useful to railway and over all helpful to the nation also.

Currently the railway has almost 16 zones and each of the cone is operated from its headquarter. With the development of more routes now these zones are also fully functional.

The North Western Railway and its importance

This zone has headquarter at Jaipur in the state of Rajasthan. In the North Western Railway there are four divisions. It has almost 5500 kilo meter track routes which have meter gauge as well as broad gauge stations. In the railway zone of North West there are 578 stations.

This North western railway zone was created in the year 2002. In fact there was work load on the Northern as well as Western zones and it was having tremendous effects on the smooth functioning of the traffic.

With the creation of new zone from 2002, the operation has been smoother and traffic of the train has been controlled effectively. This zone majority covers the stations of Rajasthan state. With the creation of new zones many fast and superfast trains are also initiated on the routes of this zone that have proven helpful to the railway as well as passengers.
